Next phase of Parsonage Way set to begin

Brookhouse Group has received approval from Wigan Council for the next stage of development at Parsonage Way Retail Park, Leigh.

The first phase of the mixed-use scheme opened in June 2013 with a 138,000 sq ft Sainsbury's store and other anchor tenants including M&S Simply Food and TK Maxx. The next stage of development will comprise a 2,000 sq ft restaurant and three retail units ranging between 9,688 sq ft and 16,307 sq ft.

Situated between Atherleigh Way and Leigh Brook Way on part of the site of the former Parsonage Colliery, the scheme has been designed by architect Cassidy + Ashton.

Brookhouse is in talks with a number of local and national operators and work is expected to start on site in September 2014.

Brookhouse Group is a property development and investment company based in Cheshire.

Mike Nuttall, group property director at Brookhouse Group, said: "We have always enjoyed strong support from councillors and council officers which makes continuing to invest in Wigan and Leigh a priority for our group. We have been thrilled by the calibre of tenants that have been attracted to the site so far and we hope the next phase of development will be well underway by the end of 2014."

Neil Dermott, associate director at Cassidy + Ashton, added: "The scheme has been designed to make maximum use of space available and meet the needs of the local community and we are pleased that the development can continue to progress following approval of the planning application."
