New Year’s Honours for NW regenerators

The chairman of North Huyton New Deal for Communities was among the region's regeneration figures recognised by the Queen in the New Year's Honours.

Father George Robson received an MBE for service to the community. The NDC is nearing the end of a ten-year, £55m investment programme in the Knowsley town.

Elsewhere, Professor John Fyfe received a CBE for his contribution to 'partnership working and regeneration worldwide', particularly in West Cumbria.

Julia Fawcett, chief executive of the Lowry Centre in Salford Quays, received an OBE, for services to the arts in the North West.

Manus Adamson, chairman of the Adamson Group, a construction company in Lancashire, and chairman of industry body the Construction Confederation, also received an OBE.

Joan Phillips received an MBE for voluntary service to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.

Heidi Mottram, managing director of regional train operator Northern Rail, was awarded an OBE for services to the rail industry.

Mottram will leave Northern Rail to become chief executive of the Northumbrian Water Group in March.
