New owners take on Lake District hotels

Colliers International in Manchester has handled the sale of two hotels in Cumbria.

It acted for the owners of the Ravenstone Hotel at Bassenthwaite, near Keswick and Ullswater House in Pooley Bridge.

The 20-bed Ravenstone Hotel has been sold by Andrew and Debra Binns to Kim and Cherin Marmon-Saxe. The sale price was not released.

Haydn Spedding, associate director at Colliers, said: "The Ravenstone Hotel occupies a superb location on the road between Keswick and Bothel. It was originally built in 1860 as the dower house at Greystoke Castle for Lady Charlotte Howard.

"The property remained in private hands for nearly 100 years, during which time it was substantially extended, including the addition of a large gentleman's games room built by the Peel family in 1930."

Ullswater House which has five en-suite bedrooms was sold by Tracey Breckhill, who is retiring, to David and Angela Beattie. The asking price was around £535,000.
