New networking club keeps redundant professionals in loop

An informal networking group has been set up in Manchester, called the Blue Sky Club, to help maintain links between the out-of-work and the more fortunate folk of the property community.

The club was set up by Alan Bennett of developer-investor Millerbrook Properties, a well-known figure on the Manchester property scene.

Bennett said: "Everybody knows it is just a matter of time before development comes back and it is a case of still being there when it does. For now, we need to help each other find the angles and locate the money that is still there to see us through the next couple of years."

Bennett said the name for the club reflects its positive intentions. He added: "It may be a bit cloudy today but tomorrow it'll be blue skies."

The club has met twice, once in November when 14 people attended, and again in December when the number doubled.

The next meeting, at All Bar One on King Street, is planned for the end of January or beginning of February.

Good Alan… We need more thoughtful people like you in the industry. When the corner turned you will be able to pick the best out of the bunch before anyone.
