New head of planning for WYG

Multi-disciplinary consultancy WYG has promoted Paul Shuker to head of planning in its Manchester office, alongside four other promotions and two new appointments.

Shuker was promoted after more than a decade with the company. He provides planning advice to a range of private and public sector clients on retail, residential and mixed-use developments. He is currently advising on the £37.5m RE:NEW project to deliver Chester's theatre, library and cinema.

The Manchester office has seen Richard Shepherd promoted to associate director, Mike O'Brien to associate, and Catherine Johns and Angela Scarr to principal planners.

WYG has also appointed Elinor George, who joins from Persimmon Homes, and Matthew Britton, who joins from Cotswold District Council, both as town planners.

The Manchester planning team now has 12 fee-earning members of staff.

Shuker said: "I welcome Elinor and Matthew to our team and look forward to the contribution they will make in helping us to continue the successful delivery of projects currently underway. The promotions are well deserved and I look forward to leading the team forward to exploit additional opportunities as the market continues to recover."
