New Charter to assist council on homeless service

Knowsley Council has awarded New Charter Housing Trust Group, based Ashton-under-Lyne, an £885,000 contract to deliver its housing options service.

New Charter will be responsible for providing advice and assistance, and in certain circumstances secure accommodation for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Knowsley area.

The council's housing options service is responsible for carrying out its statuary duties as set out in the Housing Act 1986 and the Homelessness Act 2002.

Knowsley Council said the work will not be sub-contracted. The duration of the contract was not disclosed.
