NEM’s Hughes moves to Town Hall as interim head of press

Roz Hughes, press officer at urban regeneration company New East Manchester, is to take over as interim head of press for Manchester City Council when Janine Watson leaves to become Stockport's assistant chief executive with responsibility for communications at the end of June.

Hughes will take up the post to work alongside Watson during a handover period from 6 May, based at Manchester Town Hall. The post will be advertised thereafter and Hughes' role is for an initial six months.

Hughes' work for NEM and the newly formed Manchester City South Partnership will be absorbed into the council's press office duties.

Watson was at Manchester for nine years before accepting the £90,000-a-year post with Stockport.
