Muse brings forward Conwy Council HQ

Muse Developments is preparing a planning application for a 95,000 sq ft office in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, after being named as preferred developer by Conwy County Council.

The council will be the occupier and is looking to bring more than 700 staff under one roof at the site on Conway Road, including 300 employees based at Dinerth Road.

The four-storey building could replace up to 13 existing council offices.

Alongside the construction of the new-build office, a later phase will also see Muse redevelop a grade two-listed civic building bought by the council at Coed Pella Road.

The first phase has a gross development value of £36m. M&G Investments has committed £25m to the project.

AHR Architects designed the office.

Wes Erlam, development director at Muse Developments, said: “We’re very pleased to be chosen for this exciting project which will help the Council to operate more efficiently, reduce its carbon footprint and act as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of Colwyn Bay town centre.

“We have an extensive track record of delivering similar successful schemes, and we’re looking forward to working closely with the Council to deliver an exceptional development for the benefit of the town and its residents.”

The new development is a part of the Council’s wider strategy to regenerate Colwyn Bay town centre.

A public consultation will take place early next year prior to a planning application being submitted.
