Murder inquiry into body found at Co-op HQ site
Greater Manchester Police has opened a murder inquiry after a woman's skeleton was found wrapped in carpet on a building site at the Co-operative Group's new headquarters on Miller Street.
The remains were discovered at the end of January but police initially were not suspicious. Post-mortem tests, however, concluded that the woman suffered a fractured neck, collarbone and jaw.
Police are not certain how long the body was at the site, between Angel Meadow and the Northern Quarter on the outskirts of the city centre. The body was found during site clearance work for the new Co-op HQ.
Detectives are searching missing persons files and hoping someone recognises the distinctive pinafore the woman was wearing.
Body found wrapped in carpet. Police don’t think there’s anything suspicious. Jeez
