Mulbury has appointed Bardsley Construction to deliver its £30m scheme of 143 private rented sector apartments in Ancoats, Manchester.
The developer announced last week it had agreed a funding deal with DTZ Investors to build the development on the corner of Blossom Street and Great Ancoats Street. Bardsley is already on site with its first Mulbury scheme, 135 flats over the road at the junction of Great Ancoats Street with Port Street.
The scheme, which gained planning consent in January 2017, will see the construction of two separate buildings, one of eight and one of seven storeys. There will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as three townhouses.
James Alderson, head of Mulbury City, the company’s city centre residential division, said: “The Blossom Street PRS development is similar in terms of the delivery model to our other PRS scheme in Port Street which is also under construction with Bardsley, so the company was a natural fit for this project.”
Ged Rooney, procurement director at Greater Manchester-based Bardsley Construction, said: “Our second appointment by Mulbury cements our valued reputation for the delivery of prestigious and high quality residential-led schemes such as Port Street in Ancoats on time and on budget.”
Designed by Tim Groom Architects, Mulbury’s Blossom Street PRS scheme will include communal resident amenity space, concierge services and around 2,200 sq ft of commercial space.
Demolition and remediation work on the project is due to start imminently. Completion is scheduled for May 2019.
Mulbury’s first PRS development in Port Street in the Northern Quarter is being funded by M&G Real Estate and is due for completion in summer 2018.
