MTX wins Fairfield hospital job

The modular construction firm, which specialises in healthcare buildings, has been selected to produce a 13,000 sq ft rooftop extension to Fairfield General Hospital in Bury.

Under the £1.1m contract, MTX Contracts will deliver and install a single-storey extension providing additional space for the client operator, the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

The new facility will include necessary welfare accommodation, such as staff offices, interview rooms, staff rooms changing rooms and toilets.

The extension will be built on top of existing live wards, which will remain operational throughout the construction period.

MTX will begin on site next month and completion is expected by the end of this year.

The extension has been designed by Day Architecture and SI Sealy Mechanical Engineers is the engineer for the scheme.

MTX specialises in modern methods of construction (MMC), such as off-site modular production, to fast-track construction of hospitals and other medical facilities.
