MTX completes £1m Bolton A&E extension

A £1m extension of Royal Bolton Hospital, designed by IBI Group, has been handed over by contractor MTX.

The Handforth-based company, which specialises in modular buildings and construction, has completed the 2,400 sq ft expansion of the hospital’s existing accident & emergency department in Farnworth, which began in November 2018.

Works included the installation of seven off-site factory-built modules. These include seven minor treatment rooms, a waiting area, reception desk, staff offices, and toilets. The development welcomed its first patients at the end of last month.

MTX was supported on the build by consulting engineers DSSR.
