Morris Homes lines up £436m new sites for 2014

The housebuilder based in Wilmslow is set to start work on 20 new sites across the UK in the next year, which it says will contain 2,200 new homes.

Morris' new sites in 2014 include the 220-home Sandford Park scheme at the former Bruche police training site in Warrington. Work is due to start on site in the next month.

The new developments are expected to create 1,900 new jobs for directly employed staff and subcontractors.

Mike Gaskell, chief executive of Morris Homes, said: "The underlying shortage of new homes in the UK, combined with strong buyer confidence and the Government's Help to Buy scheme, has created excellent conditions for Morris Homes to embark on a bigger build programme across a broader geography.

"We're pushing further south, into areas including Bedford and Northampton, following the relocation of our Midlands office to Rugby late last year, and have an active land buying programme which is creating development opportunities in new locations where there's strong demand for new homes."
