More than 50 homes approved for Anglesey village

Williams Homes (Bala) has secured planning permission to transform the old Valley Mill site into a residential development with 46 houses and eight apartments.

Located off the A5 in the village of Valley, the brownfield site was described as “untidy” and “sorely in need of new use to remove an unattractive site from the settlement” in the planning statement submitted by Owen Devenport.

Accordingly, the proposal from Williams Homes includes the demolition of the structures currently on the site, including an old vehicle repair garage and an unused substation.

The new Creu Architecture-designed houses will break down into 26 two-bedroom homes, 16 three-bedroom ones and four four-bedroom houses. The eight apartments will all be one-bedroom units.

Williams Homes said that the minimum 20% of required affordable housing would be met in the scheme, adding that the actual number is likely to be higher as the end-user of the site is housing association ClwydAlyn.

Plans also include a playground and more informal open space.

The project team for the scheme includes SCP, Enfys Ecology, Proarb, Nexus Heritage and E-Geo Solutions.
