More than 1,500 units in HCA’s FirstBuy allocation

Thirty house builders have been allocated a total of £22m from the Homes & Communities Agency to offer a new government product to help first time buyers.

FirstBuy offers equity loan funding of up to 20% of the purchase price split equally between the HCA and the housebuilder, with purchasers being required to raise funding, a mortgage plus deposit, of at least 80% of the purchase price.

The new product is part of the government's HomeBuy range designed to help first time buyers into home ownership in a way they can afford. The HCA said it expects to assist nearly 10,500 purchasers nationwide to buy a new home over the next two years.

The first homes are expected to be available under the FirstBuy scheme from September.
