In the latest residential conversion project in the town, developer Cherry Tree Investments has outlined plans to add eight flats to the grade two-listed former Lloyds Bank building near Altrincham’s retail park.
The building was purchased by the developer in March for £395,000 from UK Ireland Services, which was present in the building for around 25 years before relocating to Anchorage Court this year.
Cherry Tree Investments, based in Altrincham, has now submitted a planning application to convert the building into eight apartments, working with architect Lloyd Evans Pritchard.
The ground floor fronting Manchester Road will be converted into three apartments with a number of original features set to be retained; the first floor with also house three apartments, while the top floor and basement will house one apartment each.
The front elevation will remain largely unchanged while a fire escape will be removed from the rear, and existing outbuildings will be converted to a bin store.

If it secures planning consent, the bank will be the latest office-to-residential conversion in and around Altrincham, which has seen a number of commercial properties purchased and refurbished into apartments.
Other projects currently in the planning process include developer Novo’s plans to convert the former Myersons office on Regent Road into houses, while Quinta Group has recently completed the conversion and sale of Bradbury House on Stamford New Road to a PRS investor.
