Montagu Evans poaches LSH ratings team

Richard Wackett has joined property advisor Montagu Evans as a partner in the Manchester office, reuniting with his former Lambert Smith Hampton colleagues Paul Surgeon and Kyle Maplesden.

Wackett took up a part-time consultancy role with LSH, where he spent 24 years, in April. Surgeon and Maplesden joined Montagu Evans, based in Mosley Street, in May.

Wackett has represented British Rail Property, Home Office, Humberside Police, British Coal Opencast, Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC, various councils and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

In his new role at Montagu Evans, Wackett will report to Mark Higgin, partner and head of rating. He will work on the valuation of plant and machinery as well as advertising sites, sport stadia, port valuations, distribution, heavy industry, power generation, health and education.

Steve Thomas, managing partner at Montagu Evans, added: "These latest appointments to the rating team are incredibly valuable to our firm and will broaden our client services. Our three new colleagues bring outstanding experience, market knowledge and expertise to clients and this will allow us to continue to significantly expand our rating business."

The three new arrivals now make up the Manchester ratings team at Montagu Evans. LSH's website this morning listed four staff in its business rates advisory team under the Manchester office: a graduate surveyor, a placement student, Wackett still, and an associate director in Sheffield.
