Modus / Iliad start Warrington gateway

Work on a £100m scheme by joint venture partners Iliad and Modus to revitalise a main route into Warrington is under way. Plans for the Wireworks development on Winwick Street cover seven acres and include 620 homes, a hotel and offices around a 20-storey tower.

The project, which includes land once occupied by the former Rylands wire factory, was approved following a public inquiry.

The planning inspector concluded: "The development would make a major contribution to improving the urban environment in this part of Warrington."

Other facilities planned for Wireworks include a cinema, gymnasium, restaurants and bars, and a food store.
