Leisure operator Mission Mars is to open Albert’s Schenke, a sister operation to the popular Albert’s Schloss in Manchester, in the landmark building at the junction of Hanover Street and Duke Street.
The business, which is looking to open in Liverpool this summer, said that Albert’s Schenke will offer more than 20 beers on tap and also include a “cook haus bringing a distinctly modern take on classic dishes served across Alpine Europe”.
Mission Mars has established itself as one of Manchester’s key hospitality businesses, with restaurants Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza and Trof also included in its stable, along with several pubs and gig venues the Albert Hall, Deaf Institute and Gorilla. Rudy’s has already expanded into Liverpool, opening in Castle Street over the winter.
The Casartelli Building currently houses The Hub Alehouse & Kitchen, which will close at the start of June. The Hub was one of three venues put up for sale by Christie & Co in September 2018 on behalf of Bistro Qui? along with the Refinery in Hope Street and Shrewsbury venue. Christies was seeking £750,000 for the leasehold at The Hub.
The building itself is a replica of the original grade two-listed Casartelli Building on the site, which was demolished at the turn of the century, its replacement opening in 2007 with an aparthotel on the upper floors.
