Mills returns to Manchester with Colliers

Colliers International has added another big name to its Manchester office with Jonathan Mills recruited from JLL as head of investment.

Mills moved to London as senior director in the West End Investment Team at JLL in January 2013 after 11 years in the practice's Manchester office.

At Colliers, Mills will concentrate on both buy and sell sides, advising funds, institutions and developers whilst working with colleagues in the national investment team.

Mills said: "The opportunity to join Colliers at such an exciting time in its development in the UK; at the same time as returning to my home city; doesn't come around very often. Colliers' latest acquisitions of [retail property specialist, Briant Champion Long] BCL and [London specialist] H2SO, plus the quality individuals that it has boosted the team with recently, have been enough to convince me that this is a success story that I want to be part of."

A start date has not yet been given. Mills will join other recent heavyweight signings at Colliers including Peter Gallagher and Mike Hawkins, co-founders of P3 and WHR respectively.

Tony Horrell, chief executive of UK and Ireland at Colliers International, said: "There is huge potential in the North West as we've already seen with recent deals for Schroders at City Tower and our appointment at Noma. Jonathan is the ideal candidate to lead our investment business there and successfully advise our clients during this exciting period."

Mills advised on M&G's £320m purchase of RBS's 350,000 sq ft 1 Hardman Boulevard and 150,000 sq ft offices on Deansgate in Spinningfields; the ongoing sale of Manchester's 100,000 sq ft Chancery Place; Resolution's acquisition of Great Northern Warehouse for £72m; and he was involved in advising the Co-op on the £140m sale of One Angel Square.

Andrew McFarlane, head of Colliers' in Manchester, added: "We have been systematically strengthening our transactional team in Manchester, bringing in new talent like Nick Nelson; and market leaders like Mike Hawkins and Peter Gallagher. It's always been our intention to fill the investment role with one of the top performers in the market; so Jonathan joining the team will allow us to do that and help to us to continue to grow and develop in the North West."
