Miller to round off Prescot Park housing

The housebuilder is seeking reserved matters approval for the last residential plot at the former Prysmian Cables factory site, taking development across the scheme to 666 homes.

Miller Homes is working with Sten Architecture and planner Pegasus Group on the Carr Lane proposal for Prescot Park. Of the 55 homes proposed for the final plot at the scheme, 32 are to have three bedrooms and 23 four bedrooms.

Should the plans – and a separate application for a narrow 29-home plot currently awaiting determination – come to fruition, it would mean 666 homes will have been delivered in total at the site previously occupied by the copper cables manufacturer. This is well within the 750 allowed in the outline consent for the wider Prescot Park masterplan.

Miller’s reserved matters application covers only Parcel C, on the inside of the Prescot Park Way road through the estate.

Parcels A, B, D and E on the outline consent have already been built out or are being progressed by other housebuilders, accounting for 582 homes in total.

Taylor Wimpey secured approval for 173 homes on Parcel D at the start of 2018. Barratt Homes was responsible for 150 houses within Parcel B, and Anwyl Homes took on 119 homes at Parcel E. In April 2018, Countryside was given the green light to proceed with 140 homes at Parcel A.

A Home Bargains discount warehouse has also been built out at the site, while a further application for 29 homes on a narrow parcel in the north-western corner of the site is awaiting approval. The site as a whole sits to the south of  Prescot Office Park. Cable and rod production at the Prysmian, formerly BICC, site, ended in 2006.

Also now awaiting a planning decision in the area, to the northern side of Cables Way, is a hybrid application from Aldi lodged in November.

The grocer, working with its architectural partner The Harris Partnership, seeks full consent for a 19,400 sq ft store, with planning advisor Avison Young also filing outline proposals for a pub along with drive-through restaurant and coffee shop units, and 320 car parking spaces.
