Midlands retain honours in rugby festival

Wednesday saw the annual Charity Tri Region Property Rugby festival at Heywood Road, Sale. Following three hard-fought and competitive games the Midlands took the honours and retained the title.

The results of the three matches were as follows:

Yorkshire 24 – 10 North West

Midlands 17 – 10 Yorkshire

Midlands 10 – 5 North West

The captains' picks for their man of the tournament were

Alan Jones, of Henry Boot, for Yorkshire

Rob Griffin, Carillion, Midlands

Pat Hughes, Legat Owen, North West

North West captain Tony O'Keefe, director at DTZ, also praised Freddie Oakey of Colliers who was "outstanding" at full back and "would be a credit to any team", and Ramy Baxter of Capita at openside.

Thanks go to Sale FC for their generous hospitality, the North West sponsors Adam Kirkbride of the Kirkbride Group, Darren Newlove of ADT Workplace, as well as DTZ and Chris Beard of ADM Regeneration for providing the trophies and post-match festivities.

The annual AGM and end of season lunch is also fast approaching where head of the agenda will be a strategy to regain our colours and anyone interested in gracing the file of play next year should contact O'Keefe.
