Midas and KPMG advise firms on new CO2 rules

Business advisor KPMG and Midas, the inward investment agency for Manchester, are to co-host a free seminar for foreign-owned businesses on carbon reduction law.

The breakfast meeting from 8am to 10am on Tuesday, 14 July at the Imperial War Museum North will provide companies with essential information about the Carbon Reduction Commitment coming into force in the UK this year as part of a new European directive.

The KPMG team will provide an insight into how the legislation will take shape, its impact on businesses and measures that can be taken to implement energy saving efficiencies. Under the new scheme, companies will be required to measure and record energy consumption, report to Government and pay for every tonne of CO2 emitted.

Colin Sinclair, chief executive of Midas, said: "Midas not only attracts new investment for the Manchester city region but we also work incredibly hard to provide expert guidance and support on a range of issues facing both new investors and those firms already based here."
