Merseytravel tenders for £3m framework

The transport authority is seeking expressions of interest from experienced construction contractors for its minor works framework contract.

Merseytravel said successful companies will enter into one of the three framework contracts cover the following work:

  • Civil and highway infrastructure – This will comprise civil engineering works in relation to the clients transport interchanges, bus/rail car parks, bus stations, highway repair and resurfacing, bridge repair and refurbishment works and structural concrete repairs and works to pedestrian footpaths
  • Buildings and structures – New build, repair, renovation and remodelling of Merseytravel buildings including offices, bus stations, ferry terminals and Mersey Tunnel buildings including repair and renewal of retaining walls, building fabric and roofs
  • Mechanical and electrical services – Repair, renovation and renewal of HV power systems, electrical distribution switchgear, cabling, lighting, tunnel ventilation equipment, pumps, pipework and control systems

Merseytravel said the framework covers anywhere within Merseyside and will initially cover a three year period for work ordered by the engineer up to December 2014 or until the cumulative value of the works completed by the contractor reaches £3m.

Merseytravel said the value of each individual work will not exceed £500,000 for miscellaneous works and the majority will be under £250,000.

Merseytravel added that the client reserves the right to appoint more than one contractor.

Deadline for submitting tenders is Thursday 5 May at 12pm.
