Merseytravel assembles project team

The transport authority is inviting bids from firms in eight specialist skill areas to help deliver station upgrade projects over the next four years.

The disciplines covered by the frameworks include:

  • Environmental consultancy
  • Transport consultancy
  • Civil and structural engineering
  • Mechanical & electrical engineering
  • Architectural consultancy
  • Quantity surveying
  • Rail engineering
  • Tunnel engineering

The estimated total cost of the consultancy services across the eight is £5m. The projects to be worked on are not named but Merseytravel has an ongoing station improvement programme. Merseytravel has £4m in place from Network Rail for work at Liverpool Central, the main underground station, as well as its own budget, and hopes to spend £17m in total if future funding bids were successful.

There will also be work at Moorfield station, which will take up capacity on the Northern Line while Liverpool Central is undergoing work.

The deadline for requests to take part in the bid process is 29 November.
