Mersey Gateway bids submitted

Three shortlisted bidders have submitted final tenders to Halton Council for the £600m Mersey Gateway Bridge project.

The 30-year contract is for the design, build, finance and operation of a toll bridge over the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes.

The project team at Halton Council will now assess the bids against a set of criteria.

A Balfour Beatty-led team including French group Bouygues and Egis Projects, the Merseylink Consortium and the MGL consortium are among the shortlisted bidders.

The winning bidder is due to be announced in June.
