MDS doubles presence in Warrington

Billing and customer management company MDS and sister company Lavastorm Analytics have signed a 10-year lease with Royal London for a new 30,000 sq ft head office in Birchwood, Warrington.

The businesses, founded by Martin Dawes, will move to The Point in Birchwood Boulevard, in October. The Point will be the new home to more than 225 employees following relocation from Cinnamon Park, Fearnhead, Warrington.

MDS was formed in 1988 when Dawes built one of the first mobile virtual network operators. The BSS platform created by MDS provides managed revenue and customer management solutions to support operators and service providers, to enable them to profitably grow revenue and effectively serve complex customer bases, in particular the business and virtual network operator markets.

Dave Thomas, chief financial officer of MDS, said: "The move to larger premises will allow us to better facilitate our employees. Doubling the square footage reflects a significant investment by our business, and demonstrates our long term commitments to staff and customers. The increase in space will support great expansion and future growth.

"Everyone at MDS and Lavastorm is excited about the move and we're pleased to be staying in the area, which means that our staff are happy their commute to the office hasn't changed significantly."

Royal London Asset Management recently completed the refurbishment of The Point and beat off strong competition to secure MDS and Lavastorm as tenants on the whole building on a new 10-year term.

Phil Owen, property fund manager at Royal London, said: "The fact we have secured such a major letting, only three months after completing the refurbishment works is a testament to both the quality of the space and competitive terms we were able to offer."

MDS was advised on the acquisition by Canning O'Neill and Eversheds. Royal London was advised by BE Group, CBRE and Hill Dickinson.
