MCI lodges plans for Wyre homes

MCI Developments, part of housebuilder Keepmoat Homes, has submitted an application to Wyre Council for 39 affordable homes on land west of Garstang Road in Barton.

The application proposes one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, providing a mix of houses and apartments on the 2.2-acre plot.

If approved, MCI would deliver the development before transferring ownership of the site to a registered housing provider.

The site is earmarked for residential development under Wyre Council’s adopted local plan.

Last year, MCI won approval for a similar scheme, comprising 39 affordable homes, on Rosslyn Avenue in nearby Preesall.

Eleanor Ogilvie, land and partnerships manager at MCI Developments, said: “Following positive engagement with Wyre Council to obtain planning permission in Preesall, this application at Barton provides MCI Developments with a further opportunity to deliver much-needed affordable homes.”

Hollie Barton, senior planning consultant at Maybern Planning and Development, the planning consultant for the scheme, said: “The application submission demonstrates MCI’s firm commitment to both assisting the authority in meeting its housing delivery requirements and delivering a sustainable development at a site which could otherwise remain vacant.”

The multidisciplinary team includes highways consultant WYG, Ironside Farrah as flood risk consultant and Trevor Bridge Associates as landscape architect.
