McHugh leaves MAG to join CBRE

John McHugh has joined CBRE’s Manchester office in the newly-created role of creative and place director within its property management team.

McHugh joins from Manchester Airports Group where he was head of strategic and commercial marketing, and lead on promotion and placemaking for the group’s £1bn Airport City project.

Previously, he also spent nearly seven years at Bruntwood in a variety of roles.

In his new role with CBRE, McHugh will lead on research, event curation, development, and planning, focussing on engagement and retention of occupiers, supported by CBRE’s agency and professional services teams.

John Ogden, executive director and managing director of CBRE’s northern business, said: “We’re delighted John is joining the CBRE team in the North West at this really exciting time for our business. We strive to attract and recruit the best talent available in the region to support the service delivery to our wide range of clients.

“We’re looking forward to John and the team working on a variety of high-profile projects over the coming months, as well as taking our strengthened placemaking proposition to new clients across the UK.”

McHugh added: “Placemaking is becoming increasingly important to landlords and developers and it’s vital our industry explores new and smarter ways of identifying, communicating and delivering a location’s proposition and sense of place. I’m delighted to be joining CBRE to help further develop their placemaking offer for the benefit of their wide range of market-leading clients.”
