Plans for 126 apartments on the corner of Warwick Road South and Ayres Road have been lodged by Victor Old Trafford, a joint venture between the developer and MC Construction.
The Old Trafford scheme, designed by Corstorphine & Wright, is aimed at providing “high-quality, post-pandemic living”, according to the partnership.
A total of 78 apartments would have one bedroom while the remaining 48 would be two-bedroom flats. The apartments would be delivered across a trio of four and five-storey blocks.
The development, earmarked for a site opposite the Old Trafford Metrolink station, would also feature an inner courtyard for residents.
In addition, the project is to include a flexible floorplan that “meets the increasing need for a home office or studio set up allowing for living and working in comfort”, the joint venture said.
Paul Butler Associates is the planning consultant for the project and an application for the scheme has been submitted to Trafford Council.
Land assembly for the project started in 2016 and completed in January, and McGoff and MC Construction acquired three parcels of land from three different owners during that time.
Subject to planning approval, work is scheduled to start in Q4 of 2021.
McGoff Construction, part of the McGoff Group, is lined up to build the project.
“Our intention is the much-needed regeneration of the brownfield area adjacent to a transport hub, which acts as gateway to Old Trafford,” said Mike Purcell, director of MC Construction.
“We have had positive talks with Trafford Council over several years about our development plans, which complement its Civic Quarter Masterplan to the opposite side of the Metrolink tracks.”
Chris McGoff, director at The McGoff Group, said: “The Old Trafford area has huge potential and we believe the development will make a positive contribution to the redevelopment of the area, making use of a brownfield site in a highly sustainable location close to public transport links and good local facilities.”
