Mayall joins Muse board as joint boss departs
Matt Crompton has become the sole managing director of Muse Developments following the retirement of Nigel Franklin, with North West director Phil Mayall stepping up to join the board.
Franklin had spent 34 years with the business, becoming joint managing director with Crompton in December 2006 – he took responsibility for projects in the South and Scotland, with Crompton heading all other areas.
Both Mayall, who has been an increasingly prominent figurehead for North West projects such as New Bailey, and Southern counterpart Mike Auger will take a seat on the Muse board, with residential development director Duncan Cumberland moving up to the management team.
Crompton said: “It has been a pleasure to work alongside Nigel and I thank him for his vision and support over the years and wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.
“It’s a new chapter in the Muse story, and I’m delighted to welcome both Phil and Mike onto the board of directors, along with Duncan to the board of management. I’m sure their experience and tenacity will help to propel the business forward beyond 2019.”
Franklin added: “As we head into another promising year, with a robust five-year business plan, it is very rewarding to know that I will leave with the company in such good shape.
“Over the years, there have been many highs and lows, but thankfully considerably more of the former. I am leaving behind a talented and dynamic team of people that will be taking the company to the next level.”
Muse sits within the Morgan Sindall group as its development and regeneration business, and is a partner in and development manager of the English Cities Fund, a joint venture established with Homes England and Legal & General.
