Maxigiene lands Lancashire water inspection

Thornton Cleveleys-based consultant Maxigiene Environmental Services has won a £600,000 contract from Lancashire County Council to inspect more than 800 buildings for the deadly Legionella bacteria.

The contract covers 845 council buildings across the county and is required under EU and UK water hygiene regulations.

Maxigiene specialises in Legionella control and is registered with the Legionella Control Association, Chas Health and Safety Scheme, Constructionline and Gas Safe.

Legionella acquired its name after an outbreak during the 1976 convention of the American Legion that caused 34 deaths.
