Marketing Cheshire appoints MBNA comms director

The marketing organisation for Cheshire and Warrington has appointed John Greaves to its board.

Greaves oversees all external and internal communications, sponsorships, government relations and public policy at credit card bank MBNA. He acts as company spokesman and senior communications counsel to the European Card Services leadership team and leads corporate communications integration with a number of other areas including brand and associate engagement.

Edward Pysden, chairman of Marketing Cheshire, said: "John will bring with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of communications and corporate profile management that will strengthen our board.

"We believe we are well placed to help drive investment and to continue to make great strides in attracting more business and people to Cheshire and Warrington. This is clearly reflected in the skills, experience and well-balanced make-up of the Marketing Cheshire board."

Greaves said: "MBNA has been based in Cheshire for almost 20 years, so I'm delighted to have been asked to join the board and I'm looking forward to playing my part, along with my fellow board members, in making Cheshire and Warrington the place to visit, live, invest, meet and study.

"This is an important time for Cheshire and Warrington. We have all the right ingredients to drive economic growth, and our job is to ensure we get the message out to potential investors."

Prior to MBNA, Greaves worked for Bank of Scotland as director of public relations for the Bank's consumer division and before that he was PR manager at law firm, Addleshaw Booth & Co, now Addleshaw Goddard.
