Market predicts DWF move to Spinningfields

DWF is being strongly tipped to take 80,000 sq ft at Spinningfields in 1 Scott Place, soon to be vacated by the Manchester Evening News following its sale to Trinity Mirror.

Trinity Mirror yesterday announced it would pay £44.8m in cash and a cancelled printing contract for the MEN and other regional newspapers and websites owned by the Guardian Media Group.

Staff at the MEN were told they would be relocated to offices in Oldham following the sale. The MEN occupies around half of the 80,000 sq ft it has under lease at 1 Scott Place, owned by German fund Hansa Invest.

DWF, advised by Canning O'Neil, has been searching for a new office location for over a year and will relocate from Bruntwood's Centurion House at 129 Deansgate if the deal is completed.

Agency sources said DWF was expected to sign for the entire MEN space in the coming months to satisfy its requirements and put an end to speculation.

GVA Grimley advises the MEN. DTZ and Jones Lang LaSalle are letting agents on Spinningfields.
