Mardix takes 110,000 sq ft at Blackburn industrial park
Power systems manufacturer Mardix Group has taken a 110,000 sq ft lease at Sigma 110, part of Blackburn’s Roman Road industrial estate alongside the M65.
Sigma 110 includes a 93,100 sq ft warehouse alongside around 17,000 sq ft of office space over three floors, and is located off Junction 5 of the M65. It will be used as a manufacturing facility by Mardix, which is now looking to hire a number of staff once fit out completes.
The £7.6m scheme was built by Barnfield Construction and completed last summer, and has been developed by the site’s owner, Accrol Papers. Mardix is leasing the space from Accrol, which is retaining the building as part of its pension portfolio.
Neighbouring occupiers at the industrial park include Accrol at two facilites, Corus, Bibby, Pentland Group, WEC Group, and Weltonhurst.
Kendal-headquartered Mardix was bought by investor Bertram Capital in January this year, and will be combined with Bertram’s Anord Control Systems business, which providers power distribution equipment, to form the Anord-Mardix Group.
B8 Real Estate acted as agent for Accrol.
