Marco Pierre White in Sanguine mood
Marco Pierre White has announced plans to open a new restaurant with Sanguine Hospitality in Liverpool city centre.
The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill will form part of Hotel Indigo on Chapel Street, due to open in spring 2011. It will be his third North West outlet following The Swan Inn in Aughton and Doubletree by Hilton Chester, which both opened earlier this year.
White will again work alongside Francis Carroll, a local restaurant entrepreneur, with whom he worked in Aughton and Chester.
White said: "Liverpool's dining scene is thriving, with a handful of fine restaurants serving very good food, but we intend to shake things up, give those more established venues a run for their money and raise the bar even higher."
The 151-bed, £15m Hotel Indigo is currently under construction in Chapel Street. Sanguine also has a Days Inn hotel under construction on James Street in Liverpool city centre.
Sanguine's redevelopment of King's Gap Court Hotel in Hoylake will see a Frankie's restaurant installed. Frankie's is a joint venture between horse racing legend Frankie Dettori and White.
Sanguine was formed in 2007 and has seven hotels in its portfolio.
Jamie Oliver. Now Marco Pierre White. What choice!

A handful! As much as this is welcome, I’m unlikely to eat there if they are positioning themselves alongside 60 Hope St or London Carriage Works. £18 for a tiny sliver of food. Hmmm. Still, the more the merrier.

Celebrity chefs normally do top end not mid or bottom end. Sort of like how celebrity footballers play for the best clubs. Be interesting if things were different. Not sure what Jamie’s offer is.
