Manor plans student housing in Hulme

Manor Property Group has acquired land in Coupland Street, Hulme in South Manchester for a £36m planned community campus in Birley Fields.

Manor Point Manchester will contain 672 student apartments in eight storeys, over retail and office space, close to the main university campuses and science park. The new facility is projected to be completed in 2012, subject to planning permission.

Carey Jones designed the scheme. Philip Akrill, on behalf of Manor, said: "We have worked closely with the local authority and other partners to develop an innovative response to the rising demand for student accommodation.

"We have to look to the future and I am confident we can help to reinvigorate the regeneration of this part of south Manchester by pushing ahead in 2010 with this mixed use development."

Manor is advised by JYM Partnership.
