Manchester regen quangos appoint joint head of marketing

Lesley Lomax, innovation manager of Manchester Knowledge Capital, has been appointed head of marketing for both New East Manchester and the Manchester City South Partnership.

Lomax will be based in the marketing co-ordination unit at Marketing Manchester, in Carver's Warehouse, Dale Street.

Before joining Manchester Knowledge Capital, an initiative aimed at increasing productivity in key intellectual property-related industries such as media and scientific research, Lomax was previously business development manager for Midas, Manchester's inward investment agency. At Midas she worked on the BBC Move North project.

Eddie Smith, chief executive of New East Manchester, said: "With Lesley's experience, she will be a real asset to the team. Marketing plays a vital part within the organisation as it's crucial we get our key messages across to all interested parties from local residents to members of our Board, government and our partners. New East Manchester has already achieved a very high profile locally and nationally and with Lesley's help we can build on this further."

Jackie Potter, chief executive of the Manchester City South Partnership, which targets development around the Oxford Road area on the fringe of the city centre, added: "Lesley is an important addition to our small but growing team. With her background she brings with her a wealth of experience and contacts that will prove invaluable when communicating our ambitious plans for this important part of the city. With Lesley on board, we can set about marketing the area nationally and internationally, and in doing so, help maximise the area's contribution to the city and regional economy."
