Manchester Life tables Blossom Street homes

Manchester Life Development Company, the joint venture between the council and Manchester City FC owner Abu Dhabi United Group, has submitted a planning application for its fifth scheme, 199 homes for rent on Blossom Street, Ancoats.

Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios for a derelict site bounded by Blossom Street, Bengal Street, Sherratt Street and George Leigh Street, the project will include 185 flats, and 14 ground floor townhouses, with 4,800 sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor.

Blossom Street is the latest Manchester Life site to come forward as part of phase one of the Manchester Life initiative. In total phase one aims to provide around 985 new homes in the Ancoats and New Islington area. Total investment in homes is due to around £1bn.

At Murrays’ Mill, Manchester Life has appointed Graham Construction to build 124 homes, designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley.

John Sisk & Son is currently on site with 302 flats at New Union Street, from architect Callison RTKL.

At Hood Street, planning permission for 31 residential units was granted in October, and nearby at Jersey Street permission was given for 158 flats in December designed by Studio Egret West.
