Manchester delegates jet off to Mipim 2012

There will be 46 private firms and public sector bodies representing Manchester at the international real estate convention in Cannes this week as official partners.

The Manchester Partnership, a similar size to 2011 will again host a prominent stand in the Palais des Festivals to present updates on construction projects, key developments and economic issues on the city's agenda for the next 12 months and beyond.

These include Siemens' plans to support the reduction of CO2 emissions in Manchester; the £800m NOMA development by the Cooperative Group; the expansion of the Sharp Project, Airport City UK, Manchester's MediPark, and the current regeneration of the city's civic centre at St Peter's Square.

Presentations will be made by keynote speakers on the Manchester Stand at MIPIM each day at 10:45 (09:45GMT) and 15:45 (14:45GMT). Each presentation will be will be introduced by Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council, and these will be live-streamed on the internet via www.manchesteratmipim.com

Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester, said: "We're delighted to have 46 organisations on board for Manchester at MIPIM this year – a sign of real confidence in the city-region.

"It will be our 12th year at the event and it comes once again with the support of Manchester City Council.

"MIPIM provides an opportunity for the Partnership to share with the wider development and investment world the emerging plans for the city and the contribution they will make to lead the region through recovery.

"With the tremendous support that we receive, Manchester has an opportunity to further enhance its reputation on the international stage."

More than 18,000 people are expected to attend MIPIM this year. The event takes place in Cannes, France.
