Manchester at MIPIM 2013 running order unveiled

Celebrity scientist Prof Brian Cox will be the headline speaker on the Manchester at MIPIM itinerary this year.

Cox will deliver a keynote speech at the property convention in Cannes next month, exploring how the connections between people and places have the power to change the world.

The speech will form one of Manchester's six stand events at MIPIM, which take place at stand B1.00 from 12 to 15 March. The speech will be streamed live via www.manchesteratmipim.com at 14.30 GMT (15.30 CET) on Tuesday 12 March.

Other speakers confirmed to represent the Manchester at MIPIM Partnership include:

  • Dan Lejerskar, co-founder and chairman of Californian technology firm Eon Reality, which has opened a 3D visualisation school at Central Park
  • Rowena Burns, chief operating officer of Bruntwood and chief executive of Manchester Science Parks
  • Mike Emmerich, chief executive of New Economy
  • Charlie Cornish, chief executive of Manchester Airports Group
  • David Pringle, director of NOMA at the Co-operative Group
  • Mark Watts, director of Arup

During three separately themed days, the Manchester at MIPIM Partnership will highlight major developments and construction projects across the city-region. These will be:

Tuesday 12 March: Lead – Looking at how Manchester is leading the way and setting new standards across research, arts and entertainment, science and technology

Wednesday 13 March: Link – Highlighting connectivity in Manchester, in terms of its transport and international links, as well as the city's digital infrastructure

Thursday 14 March: Live – Focusing on Manchester's quality of life, its sense of place and efforts to encourage sustainable and low carbon lifestyles.

The Manchester stand sessions take place at 10.30 and 15.30 CET (09.30 and 14.30 GMT) each day during MIPIM.
