Contractor Sir Robert McAlpine has reached the highest point of construction at Vita Group’s Affinity Living Riverside scheme in Salford.
Located on the Salford bank of the River Irwell close to the Lowry Hotel, the 17-storey building will comprise 190 apartments and is scheduled for completion in December 2019.
A neighbouring 35-storey tower of 332 apartments, named Affinity Living Riverview, will complete in the third quarter of 2021.
This is the first of three Affinity Living locations across the central Manchester and Salford area, with other developments currently under construction at Circle Square on Oxford Road and Embankment West on Chapel Street.
At Circle Square, 683 apartments are to be delivered by April 2020, with 356 units lined up at Embankment West in Q1 2020.
Affinity Living is the residential brand operating within Vita, tasked with designing “for the modern renter”. Each of parent business Select Property Group’s consumer-facing brands – Affinity, Vita Student, CitySuites and a soon to be launched co-living brand, now operate under the Vita banner.
Helen White, managing director of Affinity Living, said: “The topping out of Riverside is a huge milestone for the development and marks the start of a monumental chapter for both the brand and our team. With six Affinity Living buildings going live across Manchester by the end of 2021, I am looking forward to opening the doors of our very first building.”
Simon Trevor, Sir Robert McAlpine managing director for Central, Wales and the West, added: “Thanks to a great collaboration with Vita Group, Affinity Living and the efforts of the team and our supply chain partners, we have reached this milestone ahead of schedule and the project is on track for its completion date.”
McAlpine replaced Carillion on the project in 2018.
