Magnus connects customers online

Office landlord Magnus has launched an intranet service to enable tenants to share news, swap contacts and promote services to each other.

Magnus X-Change was designed and built by Manchester-based website developer I-COM and is open to all customers in magnus' extensive estate around Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

The web platform enables the community of Magnus customers to communicate, network and market their services to each other.

"I-COM's job is to help businesses grow. In this instance we've used our web development and online marketing expertise to build a platform for Magnus that differentiates it from its competitors, while also offering opportunities for both the company and its clients to increase revenue," said I-COM managing director Tim Roberts.

"Magnus understood the opportunities that a virtual business-to-business community could offer and they briefed us to bring the concept to life."

There are also dedicated areas of the website where the firm keeps its clients updated with important health and safety and environmental information, as well as details of maintenance being carried out in its buildings.

An 'in-touch' section provides useful links, a supplier directory and details of fundraising activities being carried out by Magnus and its customers.

Steve Widdowson, director of Magnus, added: "We are always seeking ways of staying ahead of our competitors and I-COM has been working with us very successfully for some time in achieving that through the redevelopment of our original website.

"The results from that have really opened our eyes to its potential and X-Change is a natural progression. We pride ourselves on our customer service levels. Keeping customers is key and we are simply providing more good reasons for our occupiers to stay in our buildings. I-COM has been the ideal partner for us in achieving this."

Magnus is based in Macclesfield and has net assets of £14m.
