Macclesfield College buys expansion land

Cheshire East Council has agreed to sell 1.8-acres on Park Lane in Macclesfield for £700,000 in an off-market deal to Macclesfield College.

The college is proposing to use the site for a new conference and lecture facility in order to expand its higher education provision, particularly in construction craft, motor vehicles, green technologies, composites and performing arts.

The land sits alongside Park Lane Special School, Macclesfield College and Macclesfield Academy, all within the Macclesfield Learning Zone. There are currently four buildings on the site, the Willows Resource Centre, the Peatfield Centre, and two council office buildings.

The disposal forms part of the council's property portfolio rationalisation plan.
