Macclesfield brand up for discussion

The business community in Macclesfield is being invited to a breakfast event to discuss strategies for promoting the town's image and boosting its economy.

Cheshire East Council, Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce and Macclesfield Chamber of Trade are hosting the business breakfast event on Friday 28 January at Macclesfield Town Hall.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley as well as senior figures from Cheshire East Council and Macclesfield Chamber of Trade's Mandy Fazelynia will address the event.

The council said the event aims to build on the success of three previous gatherings last July, which attracted more than 70 business people to each event.

Among the topics for discussion will be a new brand identity for Macclesfield which has been developed by locally-based Verve Brands and will be unveiled at the event. Attendees will be asked for their views on this and how it could be used to promote the town both locally and further afield.

Other issues covered will be an update on the economic masterplan and further information on the setting up of a new economic forum for Macclesfield.

Cllr Jamie Macrae, Cabinet member with responsibility for prosperity, said: "The aim of the meeting is to get the views of major employers and local businesses to help shape the future of the town, provide advice, support and encouragement to help develop new firms and encourage networking to further strengthen the local economy."

The free event is open to any Macclesfield business. It will be co-chaired by Cllr Macrae and MP David Rutley. Places at the event are limited so, to book your place or for further details, please ring 01270 375162.
