The housebuilder is on site two months later than planned to deliver 64 homes on a 5.2-acre plot east of Denbigh in North Wales, as the Welsh housing market waits for the government’s signal to reopen.
The St Asaph-based firm is building the homes on land between Old Ruthin Road and New Ruthin Road after winning planning approval in March.
The scheme, known as Cae Felin, will provide a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes and prices will start from £154,995.
Macbryde Homes purchased the site in October 2019 from a local landowner for an undisclosed sum. Jones Peckover acted as the sales agent on the deal.
Barton Willmore is the planner and designer and Ascerta is the landscape architect.
In March, Macbryde said it intended to start work on the homes in April but the restrictions imposed due to Covid-19 served to delay its construction schedule.
The lockdown restrictions in Wales have been stricter than in England, where the housing market continued to serve prospective buyers and vendors where possible during lockdown.
In Wales, where the housing market remains closed, some changes to lockdown restrictions are expected tomorrow.
However, despite the restrictions, Macbryde has reported strong interest from potential purchasers for the Cae Felin homes.
Gwyn Jones, managing director at Macbryde, said: “We purchased this site last year confident that it would deliver much-needed homes to a range of local purchasers. During the ongoing period of lock down we were prepared that this might plateau
“However, interest has remained strong throughout and we’ve started construction work at pace. We are doing everything possible to be ready to officially launch the sales as soon as we’re given the green light to do so and hope that this could be by August.”
