Macbryde promotes Jones to MD

The St Asaph-based housebuilder has appointed Gwyn Jones as managing director, the first time a senior role in the company has been held by someone outside the Macbryde family.

Jones has been with Macbryde for four years, having started his career at Anwyl Construction before joining Lovell as a quantity surveyor. He rose to the role of commercial director before his recent promotion to managing director.

The company, headed up by chairman Simon Macbryde, has never had a non-member of the Macbryde family in a senior role in its 33-year history.

Macbryde focusses on housing developments in the North West with a particular focus on North Wales, and is currently delivering projects in Ellesmere Port, Abergele, Old Colwyn, and Wrexham.

At Abergele, it is delivering 156 homes on land previously earmarked for the North Wales Business Park, with construction starting on site in March this year.

The company is now aiming to double the number of home completions in the coming years and is due to submit planning applications for key sites later this year.

Other recent appointments at the company include Simon Finlay as head of development, who joined from Galliford Try Partnerships.

Simon Macbryde said: “To ensure our continued growth and success, I believe it is necessary to provide the Macbryde team with a rejuvenated leadership and Gwyn proved to be the ideal candidate for this role.

“His rise through the business has been rapid but entirely well-deserved given his unwavering commitment to pushing expectations and delivery to an ever-higher standard.  I’m personally looking forward to continue working with him to and to see how Macbryde Homes develops under his leadership.”
