LSH wins Wirral property review

Wirral Council has appointed Lambert Smith Hampton to review the local authority's surplus assets and identify options for their future use.

The appointment is for a three-year period. Wirral Council is the third largest metropolitan authority in the North West.

Cost savings receipts released from its property assets will support frontline services. LSH will work alongside the council to prepare strategies for surplus assets, considering both disposals and options for revenue generating activities.

Richard Platt, head of public sector at LSH in the North, said: "In challenging economic times for the public sector, local authorities must be innovative in their approach to cost reduction, and the council's current transformation programme is a good example of this."

LSH was appointed following a formal bidding process, using the Government Procurement Services framework.
