LSH pair take up three peaks challenge

Two surveyors from Lambert Smith Hampton's Manchester office have teamed up to enter the 2012 Three Peaks Yacht Race, raising money for the We Love MCR charity, the Lord Mayor of Manchester's Charity Appeal Trust.

Adam Jackson, a passionate sailor, and Tim Austin, an accomplished mountain runner, will be taking a break from their day jobs to take part in the extreme multi-sport endurance race, which is held in June.

Competing alongside professional skipper Mike Pickering, co-skipper Mel King and fell-runner Natalie White, Team We Love MCR will sail from Barmouth to Fort William, in excess of 385 nautical miles, with two of the crew scaling the UK's three highest mountains – Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis. The crew sail between each of the mountain ranges here two crew get off and run up the mountains.

We Love MCR Charity, the new name for the Lord Mayor of Manchester's Charity Appeal Trust, aims to support the lives of young people, families and older people who are experiencing disadvantage within the city of Manchester.

Adam Jackson, office agent at Lambert Smith Hampton's Manchester office, said: "The Three Peaks Yacht Race has inspired me since my sand-castle-building days as a boy on the beaches of Barmouth where the race starts each year. I'm delighted that we have been able to put together such a strong team with the addition of Mike, Mel and Natalie and the team look forward to raising lots of money for what is an incredibly important charity for our home city."

Cllr Harry Lyons, Lord Mayor of Manchester, added: "The Three Peaks Yacht Race is a massive challenge, I understand that the boats are unable to use engine power so the team will have to row if they lose the wind and that the runners will be doing the equivalent of three marathons in three or four days! It's incredible. We are hugely grateful for all the hard work the team is putting in and for choosing to support our charity."

The team wish to thank their sponsors Lambert Smith Hampton, Petros, Property Alliance Group, Richard Barber & Co and Cedar Design & Build.

"Without the support of the local business community we would not be racing" added Jackson.
Team We Love MCR will set off from Barmouth on 16 June when the race starts at 16:00. You can follow the team's progress via twitter @teamwelovemcr or to make a donation go to www.teamwelovemcr.org.uk
