A joint venture between housing association Together Housing Group and developer Lovell Partnerships has begun the construction of 127 homes on a 7.7-acre plot south of Liverpool Road in the area around Amersham Street in Salford.
The joint venture, which formed last year, is to build a mix of two, three- and four-bedroom mews and semi-detached properties, 17 of which will be affordable homes for social rent.
Public realm, rain gardens and a cycle street linking into wider Salford cycle routes are also included in the proposals.
Lee Sale, regional managing director at Lovell Partnerships, said: “Starting on site is always an exciting milestone for us as it signifies the start of our journey delivering much-needed homes in the North West.
“The development will also provide much needed affordable housing and will rejuvenate the local area in line with the council’s vision.”
Barton Willmore is the planning consultant for the project, which forms part of a wider 3,000-home five-year Pendleton masterplan; so far, the project has seen 344 family homes and apartments built.
Phase one of the 135-acre regeneration of Pendleton saw the construction of housing on either side of Blodwell Street and Athole Street.
Phase two comprised the refurbishment of properties within the area bound by Liverpool Street, Cross Lane, Graythorpe Walk and Buckingham Street, and the construction of 42 affordable homes on land north of Aylesbury Close.
